Indira Gandhi elected as the third Prime Minister of India and served three consecutive terms. Special agricultural innovation programs and extra government support launched in the 1960s by Indira Gandhi finally transformed India's chronic food shortages into surplus production of wheat, rice, cotton and milk. She was a great contributor in the ‘Green Revolution’ that took place in the country.
